A celebration of resilience - a powerful portrait of the strength of the human spirit
More than anything stories bring meaning to our lives, which is why we love hearing, telling and sharing them with others. In this motivating talk, Amanda Lindhout moves beyond the 15 months of unimaginable hardship she spent as a hostage in Somalia to remind us of the hidden lessons that can be discovered through adversity. What emerges is a celebration of resilience and a powerful portrait of the strength of the human spirit. Join us to learn some universal truths about how inspiration can come in many forms during periods of uncertainty or dramatic change.
Hosted by Travel Alberta and the Alberta Museums Association this Speaker Series will offer you insight into

AMANDA LINDHOUT From CAPTIVITY to FREEDOM to FORGIVENESS
In 2008, freelance journalist Amanda Lindhout travelled to Somalia to research a story on millions of people affected by war, drought and famine; unfortunately, she became the story when she was kidnapped. Lindhout spent 15 months enduring unimaginable hardships as a hostage in the world's poorest country. Following her release in November 2009, she became a passionate advocate for the Somali people and is dedicated sharing her message of forgiveness and creating awareness of the opportunities each individual has to create sustainable change in the world.
