Randy Bertrand named 2012 Alto Ambassador
The Alberta Tourism Awards Committee has named Randy Bertrand of Devon, Alberta as recipient of the 2012 Alto Ambassador award for his outstanding contributions to Alberta’s tourism industry.
Over the course of his career, Mr. Bertrand’s vision that “tourism is economic development” has translated to colleagues and partners across Alberta. He spent years promoting this concept long before people recognized the economic impact that tourism has on a community.
Randy has experienced major success in his work in Devon and is an example of a team leader and true ambassador of tourism in Alberta. His vision and dedication has contributed to tourism becoming the largest economic driver in the town of Devon, which now experiences more than 750,000 visitors annually.
“Randy is a shining example of someone working in a small town who is creating big things. The folks in Devon are very proud of Randy’s accomplishments, and now the rest of the province will get to connect with this dynamic ambassador of our industry,” said Allen R. Gibson, member of the Strategic Tourism Marketing Council and Chair of the volunteer industry committee which oversees the awards program and selects the Alto Ambassador recipient.
The Alto Ambassador award, sponsored by the Calgary Airport Authority, will be presented to Mr. Bertrand at the Alto Awards Gala on October 22, in conjunction with the 12th annual Travel Alberta Industry Conference in Banff, October 21 – 23, 2012.
Alto Awards in nine other categories will also be presented at the Gala. For Alto nomination forms and information related to the Gala please visit industry.travelalberta.com/alto
