Tourism Jasper is the Destination Marketing Organization for Jasper and Jasper National Park. We’re a young, energetic, forward thinking team, who are charged with developing and executing on creative solutions to help our Shareholders (select hotels, restaurants, and activities in Jasper) increase revenue through sustainable visitation of targeted consumers to our awesome little town.

Position Summary

The Content Specialist is to directly support Tourism Jasper’s content strategy. The Specialist contributes to content creation (editorial calendar, strategic planning, briefing, writing, editing and video creation), curation and content lifecycle management. The specialist will work closely with the Consumer Marketing Team to create compelling, relevant content for a variety of audiences.

 

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Marketing Manager, responsibilities and essential job functions include the following and may be adapted for the ideal candidate:

Content Creation, Curation and Distribution
  • Help build and implement an overarching content plan that guides campaign and online activity
  • Create, curate, share and manage tourism-related content and information both internally and externally, in a variety of formats including: featured articles, web articles, blog articles, social media content, e-newsletter, etc.
  • Work closely with the Campaign and Partnership Specialist and Social Media Coordinator to align content with campaign goals and social media activity
  • Conduct interviews with current and potential brand ambassadors
  • Ensure all content is on-brand, consistent in terms of style, quality and tone of voice, suitable for target markets, and optimized for search and user experience for all channels
  • Research new trends in the content field that can be adapted into stories that drive online engagement
Graphic Design (Imagery)
  • Conceptualize and design imagery for campaign collateral including print, web and social media platforms to inspire, inform and captivate our audience
  • Work with a wide range of media and use graphic design software
  • Identity trends to develop new design concepts, layouts and graphics
Asset Development (Photo & Video)
  • Develop innovative and effective digital content (photo and video creation) for website, blog, social platforms, consumer newsletter, visitor guide, third party articles, etc.
  • Ability to edit photos and videos
  • Manage all assets and collateral (i.e., photos, blogs, video, etc.). 
  • Coordinate photo and video shoots 
Budget Maintenance and Administrative Requirements
  • Monitor and track invoices and expenses that relate directly to Content Specialist projects
  • Prepare meeting reports as required
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of content or design related experience
  • A Degree or Diploma in Journalism, Media Arts, Interactive Arts, Information Design, Marketing or Business Communication.
  • Excellent writing and reading skills with an eye for details essential
  • Have proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite specifically InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Exceptional knowledge of web, social and online marketing practices 
  • Proficient in the development, design, optimization and implementation of strategies through owned and non-owned digital and web platforms (GoogleTravel, SEO, SEM, TripAdvisor, etc.)
  • Outstanding project management and time-management
  • Strategic and critical thinker with keen sense of design 
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and collaborate for solutions

Other Information

  • This position is based in Jasper, Alberta
  • Limited domestic travel is required
  • Employment status: Full time – 40 hours per week
  • Ability to help out after hours for special meetings or events 
  • Can handle some light physical work (mostly bending, reaching, carrying light items, walking and standing)
