Miner's Cafe
The Café Manager will be required to oversee all daily operations of bustling café. Responsibilities include waitressing/cooking while supervising staff; maintaining food preparation and service procedures; working with suppliers; and maintaining positive customer relations. Candidate should possess excellent communication, organizational and math skills, have a strong moral compass and the ability to work under pressure. They must perform necessary tasks on a computer and be in good health to meet the physical demands of the job.
Daily Duties and Procedures
  • Supervision of staff - observe performance and encourage improvement where necessary
  • Field sick calls, find replacement staff
  • Adjust employee work schedule as needed
  • Oversee staff time sheet
  • Supervise training of new staff
  • Assign duties, responsibilities and work stations to employees
  • Prioritize tasks
  • Ensure that checklists, requisitions and proper opening and closing functions are being completed each shift
  • Maintain a standard and order of cleanliness
  • Recommend measures for improving work procedures
  • Troubleshoot equipment (cash register, debit/credit card machine, dishwasher, fridges, etc.) by calling for repairs and training staff on proper use.
  • Understand and implement power outage procedures
Food Planning and Ordering
  • Maintain the Sysco food order form and place weekly food order
  • Create backup plans for feature menu items
  • Plan and coordinate nightly duties and baking requirements for evening staff
  • Ensure Food Safety measures are in place and being adhered to - verify temperatures, judge appearance and taste of products and check preparation methods to determine quality
Staff and Customers
  • Demonstrate positive leadership characteristics which inspire Team Members to meet and exceed standards
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to provide clear direction to the staff
  • Maintain positive staff relations - encourage team work, staff participation and feedback
  • Interact positively with customers
  • Solicit feedback from guests concerning service and food and beverage offerings
  • Organize/accommodate large reservations
Administrative
  • Compile and balance receipts at the end of each day (cash out)
  • Print food order forms, times sheets and other relevant paperwork for daily operations
  • Assist with social media marketing
Abilities
  • Food and beverage operations – Food Safe Certificate

  • General gift shop operations
  • Communication- interaction with all types of people
  • Physical Stamina
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., and to lift lighter objects overhead. The transporting, moving, lifting, and/or stacking of supplies
  • Standing and walking for 95% of workday
  • Ability to work under pressure and deal with stressful situations during busy periods
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Restaurant Owners
  • Punctuality and regular attendance required
