Position Summary

Reporting to the Executive Director, Global Marketing Services, the Development Manager is responsible for managing the technical development and support of Travel Alberta’s marketing, sales and industry support channels and technologies. The responsibilities for this role will include leading a team of in-house developers and technologists on web/website application development and technology platform selection & implementation projects, working directly with the Executive Director, Global Marketing Services to build and manage development projects, solution architectures, development life cycle, team resourcing, and various research and development activities.

Position Requirements

As Development Manager you understand the importance of working with the organization to align technical solutions with business needs for a range of audience groups and channels. Your ability to develop and maintain effective relationships, credibility and personal networks between the technology and business units of the organization will help translate business requirements to technical deliverables and deliver operationally stable solution that provides good customer experience.

Projects are varied and time sensitive, requiring a high degree of creative thinking, multi-tasking, prioritizing and analytical decision making skills to ensure quality and timeliness of messaging. As Development Manager you will manage a growing development team including managing evolving demands, assigning tasks/projects, reviewing work, regular meetings and performance management. You have demonstrated problem solving abilities and can gather and analyze information skillfully in order to identify opportunities and resolve problems in a timely manner while providing broad functional and technical expertise including development standards and best practices.

Your degree in computer science or related field is complemented with seven or more years of relevant, progressively responsible experience in software development together with three years in a leadership role. Special Requirements

Some travel is required. This position is based in the Calgary office located in Inglewood.
