This position is full time with salary and benefits, including an annual season’s pass and reciprocal agreements at other area resorts. 

Job Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Sales & Marketing, and working closely with the manager of the Sunshine Mountain Lodge. The SML Account Sales Manager is responsible business development and performance of:

  • Sunshine Mountain Lodge (SML) group business by daily active prospecting and sales of new business with primary focus on mid-week business
  • Source out, pursue and close sales to new customers throughout the QE2 corridor with the primary focus being corporate group business
  • Find new contacts and strengthen existing client relationships
  • Develop strategies to find new business opportunities and aggressively pursue them
  • Manage SML wholesaler’s sales and relationship with the goal of increasing mid-week room sales
Areas of Responsibility
Key areas of responsibility include market research and analysis, prospecting new markets, customer support, wholesale site visits and product presentations. In conjunction with the sales and marketing team, manages sales of all the following products and services:

  • Prospecting and daily cold calling new Group sales, with focus on midweek business from the QE2 corridor being top priority
  • Targeted Groups and Incentive travel partners from across North America
  • Targeted Social Groups and Weddings in the Canadian regional market
  • New SML business development through existing partners occasionally as directed by the Director
  • Source new business and markets through networking opportunities
  • Initiates and coordinates development of SML sales tactics to penetrate new markets
  • Travel to assigned markets for business development
  • Key contact to wholesale and tour operator partners and work with them to development new sales, and identify shared opportunities
  • Manage, organize and attend destination trade shows and industry relationship conferences for Travel Trade and MC&IT
  • In conjunction with the Sales Marketing Director, develop and execute business plan and sales strategy for the market that ensures attainment of company sales goals and profitability
  • Consult with the Director of sales and marketing on any provisions to existing approved pricing and value add-on’s during the quoting process
  • Maintains accurate records of all on-going sales leads, and weekly activity reports
  • Creates and conducts proposal presentations and RFP responses
  • Controls expenses to meet budget guidelines
  • Host BDTs (business development tours) for Travel Trade and MC&IT.Active participation in weekly sales and revenue management meetings.

Experience/Requirements

  • 2-4 years direct sales and hotel experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and an ability to work individually on a project or in a team environment
  • Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
  • Intermediate to Advanced skier or snowboarder
