The Animal Care Maintenance Assistant assists the Marine Life Department staff with the cleaning and maintenance of exhibits and holding tanks, filtration systems and other maintenance related tasks as needed.
-General maintenance and troubleshooting of marine Life Facilities including minor repairs and basic carpentry. Responsible for the maintenance of water changes, chemical balances and cleanliness.
-Performing general cleaning and maintenance of quarantine holdings and of live exhibits, tanks, and displays.
-Performing multiple daily routine assessment rounds to check exhibit conditions and mechanical life support systems status
-Maintaining filter systems by pressure washing and changing filter material.
-Individuals must be mechanically inclined with general handy work experience.
-Must possess basic carpentry and repair work abilities and experience working with basic hand tools.
-Applicants with any experience dealing with water filtration systems or in a related facility will be given preference.
-Applicants must be able to pass a security clearance, have flexible availability, be comfortable working in close proximity to animals and be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
