This is an exciting and challenging temporary job opportunity.
You will help create a unique experience for visitors from around the world while showcasing the buffalo culture of the plains people and the rich archaeological history of Head-Smashed-In.
Under the guidance of the Heads of Interpretation and Education, Interpretive Guides will assist in set up for and provide visitors with guided tours, building orientations, education programs and special events in an entertaining and informative manner.
The ideal candidate must be able to work independently and perform a variety of tasks in a challenging and busy work environment. Strong verbal communication skills are necessary. Experience in drama or education is an asset.
-High school diploma or equivalent.
-Possess a valid Alberta Driver’s Licence and have own transportation to and from the site or the meeting location of the free daily Shuttle service from Fort Macleod (for staff only).
-Must undergo a police security check at time of employment.
-Must be willing and able to undertake some physical work including lifting.
-Knowledge of Blackfoot culture and an ability to speak or understand Blackfoot preferred.
-Experience in presenting to large groups of people, and working with children of various ages an asset.
-Able to work with limited supervision, willing to learn and accept new ideas and demonstrate initiative.
Salary: $13.00-$18.00/hr (depending on experience) 36.25 to 40 hours per week. (Rotating Schedule, weekend work required)
