We are looking for an energetic individual to join us as the Business Development Manager, East. Our Meetings & Conventions team supports the growth of Edmonton’s tourism infrastructure by promoting the benefits of Edmonton Destination Marketing Hotels group and local hosting facilities, all while increasing awareness of our City. Covering Eastern Canada & Associations markets, this highly client-focused partnership builder will drive sales and business development.

Job Details

We promote Edmonton as the destination of choice for tourism, meetings, conventions, and major events! The Business Development Manager will model the Edmonton Way by producing conventions and meetings business from assigned markets as well as consistently maintaining strong industry relations. Being committed to excellence in providing an exceptional visitor experience from first point of contact, to the day visitors leave is the goal. Showcasing Edmonton and increasing positive recognition of Edmonton in the eastern and associations tourism markets, this individual is a true ambassador of the city and has no trouble telling our story. The successful candidate knows how to skillfully build partnerships and will be capable of coaching, mentoring and leading their team with charisma, patience and intention. Highly skilled at presenting to potential clients, qualifying opportunities and developing compelling proposals, the ability to sell our destination will ensure your success.

The successful candidate for this role will have 3-5 years experience working with Canadian and US associations in a sales capacity, thrive in a fast-paced environment, have an outstanding sales track record and will be committed to featuring Edmonton as the top choice for a meetings and conventions destination. Experience and networks within the Ottawa/East market will also be considered an asset. As an inspiring and enthusiastic Edmontonian, you easily build relationships and love to network to develop potential leads. You have an excellent familiarity and appreciation for the city’s hotels, venues, attractions and much more! Knowledge of greater Edmonton experiences and the tourism industry in general will assist you in leveraging partnership opportunities. Travel is an important part of this position, as well as the ability to continually budget and plan, so having interest in these aspects will set you up for success in this exciting role!
