Director, Finance and Administration  

Reporting to the President and CEO, the successful applicant will be responsible for the financial reporting, management information systems, administration of the operations, strategic financial planning, accounting functions, risk management and governance of Banff Lake Louise Tourism.   

Primary areas of responsibility include:
  • Provide financial leadership to the Executive Team at BLLT; 
  • Lead, manage and coach the Accounting team by clarifying expectations, delivering results and identifying opportunities for growth and improvement; 
  • Deliver on, and lead, the full cycle accounting function (AR, AP, Bank Reconciliation, monthly financial reports for the organization and Board); 
  • Produce the annual financial statement for audit by the external auditors;
  • Work with team members to develop the annual budgets and provide management reporting and forecasting in order to help the teams operate effectively; 
  • Lead the development and implementation of the corporate scorecard and contribute to the continuous improvement of reporting, scorecards and business intelligence;
  • Provide support to the CEO and Board of Directors for the governance of BLLT; and
  • Responsible to manage all areas of corporate risk for the organization.   

Essential skills and Experience: 
  • 7 – 10 years of experience in a senior role managing the finance and accounting functions;
  • Experience working directly with boards and with organizational governance;
  • A related degree in commerce or accounting, along with an accounting designation;
  • Strong leadership skills - experience in coaching and providing direction;
  • Experience with the assessment and management of corporate risk; 
  • Able to produce high quality financial and management reports, tactical & strategic planning documents; 
  • Excellent organizational, analytic, problem-solving and project management skills; 
  • A skilled communicator and able to translate financial information and concepts into management information, both written and oral;
  • Experience with Microsoft Nav and Jet Reports; and
  • Background in tourism or travel industry an asset.
