The Interpretive Program is looking for students interested in working at Police Point Park. Positions may be supported by governments programs, and certain restrictions apply. Positions are pending approval of funding. Interviews will be held as soon as possible. Apply now.

Job Description

Park Interpreters are noted for their creativity and for the enthusiasm with which they plan, prepare and present material for the public. The job is very varied, as the Interpreters work with school groups, tourists, and residents. Designing exhibits, leading a school group on a hike, researching the history of the Park, or adding to the photo collection are typical duties. There are opportunities to use personal skills and interests, and every interpreter brings different strengths to the Program. Weekend work is often required. 

Duties

Learning curriculum based school programs
Developing displays and other interpretive media
Working as part of a team on some projects, and taking individual responsibility for other projects. 
Working within time and money budgets, to create outstanding products.
Enjoying the visitors, responding to their questions, and learning from them as well as sharing local information and inspiration.

Qualifications

A keen interest in the environment, history, and the outdoors as demonstrated by personal activities and studies. 
Enthusiasm for sharing with visitors of all ages.
Creativity and the ability to use a variety of techniques to express our messages.
A willingness to learn. 
A willingness to work cooperatively with others, in a very dynamic working space.
An attitude of respect for co-workers and visitors, and an ability to present oneself in a professional manner.
Experience and/or ability to lead groups in outdoor activities in moderate terrain.
A driver’s license is helpful.      
First aid training is helpful.
