This is a Fun fall job on a Pumpkin Farm!
Time frame: Sept 15-November 1, 2015
What is Agri-tourism on a pumpkin farm?
Its a huge adventure! Tourists, company picnics groups, families and school kids visit a working Pumpkin Farm, buy corn stalk shocks and pumpkins, enjoy local entertainment, participate in activities including scarecrow making, team-building, puppet shows, corn maze puzzle solving, Farmer Olympics, selfie with a Goat, shop in a country store, or eat a field to fork dinner – in the field! Agri-tourism, although new, is a rapidly growing industry in Alberta.
Help hundreds of farm visitors escape the stresses of traffic, the office and day to day home life to spend a day, or just a few hours, having fun on a sustainable local farm.
Parents have recently realized that it’s important for their children to know how food is grown. Children need to know that pumpkins come from a farm field, eggs come from a chicken – not a carton, and you can eat edible flowers! Have fun showing them life on a farm!
What does an Agri-Tourism Guide do?
Meeting and greeting members of their tour, co-ordinating on-farm experience, being enthusiastic and helpful at all times, learn about our farm and how food grows, calmly dealing with emergencies (ie a cut finger from the corn leaves), drive a tractor, help with the pumpkin harvest.
