Job Objective:

Responsible for the development and performance of all sales activities in an assigned market while providing leadership towards the achievement of maximum profit in line with company vision and values. Establish plans and strategies to expand the current marketing area.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Provide Sales and Marketing Department with internal and external sales through effective communication
  • Act as key contact between sales and operations personnel and Receptive Tour Operator’s (RTOs) in North America
  • Seek out new business opportunities for all Viad Travel and Recreation operating divisions focusing on RTOs
  • Manage customer acquisition and sales process within customer relationship management system
  • This position reports directly to the VTR Senior Sales Manager, RTO

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop RTO business while maintaining and growing existing accounts
  • Manage pre-planned sales trips within North America and initiates business strategies and actions as defined in the sales and marketing plans
  • Liaise with the Senior Sales Manager, RTO to develop new/existing RTO business while maintaining and growing existing accounts Liaise between sales and operations, and group for RTO sales initiatives
  • Liaise with the Marketing Manager (Print and Online) on implementing new initiatives regarding RTO marketing
  • Provide sales and marketing updates to the Senior Sales Manager
  • Proactively send out sales collateral/material, and respond to sales requests and contact key accounts initiating information exchange and sales support
  • Participate with all sales and marketing personnel and divisional managers on budgets, marketing plans and gathering of business intelligence
  • Provide mid-season and year end plan updates with a focus on tactical performance metrics
  • Meet company goals and divisional targets and lead generation as set by key divisions.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Coordination, participation, material preparation, follow-ups and tracking of results
  • Travel is approximately 35% of this position
  • Must live close to a major city centre

IDEAL EXPERIENCE

  • Demonstrated success in sales and business development, preferably in travel/tourism
  • Spoken/written abilities in Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish or other second language an asset
  • Understanding of foreign business culture is an asset
  • Experience with SalesForce.com or similar CRM
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint is required
