Reporting to the Director, Public Relations & Media, the Media Specialist, USA is responsible for implementing strategy and tactics to leverage media and public relations activities that align with Travel Alberta’s core media and public relations strategy of broadcast, key accounts, and social media channels. The Media Specialist, USA will work in consultation with the North America marketing team, and is responsible for managing and developing media outreach and events to support the launch of marketing campaigns. This role will foster relationships and collaborate with internal stakeholders, the Alberta tourism industry, DMO’s and the US media to arrange media visits that highlight urban and regional Alberta experiences.
As Media Specialist, USA you understand the importance of proactive and reactive media relations, press trip development and logistics to ensure media’s editorial needs are met. Your experience in social media outreach and working knowledge of the Associated Press style will enhance the delivery of Travel Alberta’s key messages in the US. Your attention to detail will ensure that your working budget is accurate and up to date for media visits, events and special projects. Your superior communication and interpersonal skills, together with your ability to act with conviction will allow you to establish and maintain relationships and partnerships with business units, industry partners and media. You have demonstrated problem solving abilities and possess a proven ability to manage conflicting deadlines and prioritize initiatives within politically sensitive situations. You are also able to work both independently and in a team-oriented work environment.
Your degree in Public Relations, Media, Communications, Tourism, Business or related field is complemented with five years of relevant experience in the tourism industry or relevant Media role. Classification: Specialist 3, Salary Range: $65,496 - $85,176
Hours of Work: 36.25 hours per week, Employment Status: Permanent
