Alto Awards

The Alto Awards recognize individuals and organizations committed to enriching Alberta’s tourism industry and who by their actions inspire others and demonstrate what can be achieved by working together. The Alto Awards will be presented in nine categories, and to the 2017 Alto Ambassador, at the Alto Awards gala, October 23, 2017, in conjunction with the 17th annual Travel Alberta Industry Conference in Banff, October 22-24, 2017. You are all encouraged to nominate your organizations in the various categories offered.

Every year one member of Alberta’s tourism community is recognized for their exceptional contribution to the industry. This year’s Alto Ambassador is APX Hotel Group, Vice President of Operations, Robin Cumine.

  • Alberta Pride

    Alberta is a diverse and vibrant province and these qualities are reflected in the tourism products and services offered. The Alto Alberta Pride Award was created to recognize a business or organization that captures the essence of the Alberta experience. What is the Alberta experience? It could be what your guests do when they arrive or how they feel when they leave. It could be a vacation experience that’s unique to the province or it may be that your guests perceive Alberta as a very special place.

    Nominations must be received no later than 4:30 p.m., Friday, September 8, 2017.

  • Marketing Excellence Up To $10,000

    The Alto Marketing Excellence Award recognizes creative marketing campaigns that encourage travel to, and within, Alberta. Emphasis is on original and effective campaigns that push the boundaries of common current practices and result in greater than expected return on investment. Total budget for the campaign or project must be equal to or less than $10,000.

    Nominations must be received no later than 4:30 p.m., Friday, September 8, 2017.

  • Marketing Excellence $10,000 - $50,000

    The Alto Marketing Excellence Award recognizes creative marketing campaigns that encourage travel to, and within, Alberta. Emphasis is on original and effective campaigns that push the boundaries of common current practices and result in greater than expected return on investment. Total budget for the campaign or project must be between $10,000 and $50,000.

    Nominations must be received no later than 4:30 p.m., Friday, September 8, 2017.

  • Marketing Excellence Over $50,000

    The Alto Marketing Excellence Award recognizes creative marketing campaigns that encourage travel to, and within, Alberta. Emphasis is on original and effective campaigns that push the boundaries of common current practices and result in greater than expected return on investment. Total budget for the campaign or project must be over $50,000.

    Nominations must be received no later than 4:30 p.m., Friday, September 8, 2017.

  • Marketing Partnership

    The Alto Marketing Partnership Award recognizes partnerships of two or more organizations exhibiting exceptional achievement in tourism marketing and who demonstrate the success of working together.

    Nominations must be received no later than 4:30 p.m., Friday, September 8, 2017.

  • Outstanding Sustainable Tourism

    Sustainable tourism development meets the needs of visitors and local communities while protecting and enhancing the environment. The management of resources focuses on maintaining environmental sustainability, and social and cultural integrity while contributing to the overall well-being of the local community.

    Nominations must be received no later than 4:30 p.m., Friday, September 8, 2017.

  • Service Excellence

    Honours an organization in the tourism industry that demonstrates a commitment to service excellence, delivering outstanding customer service to their visitors, employees, suppliers and other stakeholders.

    Nominations must be received no later than 4:30 p.m., Friday, September 8, 2017.

  • Tourism Event or Festival of the Year

    The Alto for Tourism Event or Festival of the Year award is designed to celebrate events and festivals which drive tourism attendance to their region, highlight unique Alberta programming and brings an economic impact to their community.

    Nominations must be received no later than 4:30 p.m., Friday, September 8, 2017.

  • Tourism Media

    The Alto Tourism Media Award recognizes that the stories of travel media share with their audiences benefit both the tourism industry and travelers. This competition is open to all media – broadcast, print and online – who have produced a tourism-oriented piece that showcases Alberta.

    Nominations must be received no later than 4:30 p.m., Friday, September 8, 2017.
