Astronaut Roberta Bondar to Keynote Annual Canadian Badlands Tourism Development Conference & AGM

Roberta Bondar, creative thinker, renaissance woman and Canada’s first woman astronaut, will share her extraordinary experiences during the 5th Annual Canadian Badlands Tourism Development Conference & AGM. The conference, themed Venture to Discovery, takes place in Strathmore, Alta., March 25 to 27. The 2½-day conference is expected to attract more than 350 western Canadians connected to the tourism industry.

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn from three Canadians whose vision for success comes from their ability to think big and take chances.

Keynote Speakers
Roberta Bondar has never been one to rest on her many laurels. Canada’s first female astronaut also happens to be a neurologist and adventurer. Bondar travels the world delivering presentations rich in insights and humour. In addition to such topics as leadership and vision, risk management, the environment and sustainability, she speaks on her passion for space, discovery and exploration.

Robin Esrock is an energetic traveller with a sense of adventure and a dash of school-boy goofiness. Travel journalist and TV host, Esrock’s most recent book, The Great Canadian Bucket List, quickly became the No. 1 travel book in Canada. It features Digging for Dinosaur Bones in the Alberta Badlands as one of his top must-do experiences.

David McKenna is president of Brewster Travel Canada, a company devoted to showcasing Alberta’s beauty to the world. His passion and commitment to Alberta and its mountain culture has become well known since he joined the company in 2009. He played a pivotal role in getting approval for the Glacier Skywalk in Jasper National Park, which opened in May 2014.

Other Conference Highlights
Delegates can attend workshops offering insights into private investment and development, a primer on how to grow visitation in the Canadian Badlands and a session on culinary tourism. Network opportunities also abound.
