Alto Awards: Seeking Judges for the 2016 Alto Awards and a Calgary Committee Member
The Alto Awards recognize individuals and organizations committed to enriching Alberta’s tourism industry and who by their actions inspire others and demonstrate what can be achieved by working together.
The 2016 Alto Awards Committee is seeking judges for this year’s awards in the following categories: Marketing Excellence, Marketing Partnership, Service Excellence and Tourism Media.
The Judging Process
All entries received by the application deadline of September 9, 2016 will be reviewed by the Alto Committee for eligibility purposes. All eligible entries are then sent to the judges to individually score the submissions and send their results to an independent auditor. The auditor tabulates the scores for each entry and informs the Alto Awards Manager of the results.
Timeline and Commitment
Judges must be available to score the submissions between September 14 and September 26. The amount of time required depends on the number of submissions in the category; however, most judges devote 8-10 hours scoring the submissions. Judges must have access to the internet during this time.
If you are interested in becoming an Alto Awards Judge, and have expertise in the above categories, please send your name and brief resume to Niesa Silzer, Alto Awards Manager at firstname.lastname@example.org by August 15, 2016.
The Alto Committee is also seeking a member of the tourism industry from Calgary. The Alto Awards Committee manages the Alto Awards, with support from Travel Alberta. The committee ensures all aspects of the awards process is well-managed, transparent and current. The Alto Committee is responsible for any changes to awards, categories or applications. The Alto Committee is also responsible for selecting the Alto Ambassador each year and for reviewing all other submissions for eligibility. Committee members are advocates for the Awards in their regions.
Time commitment for the Alto Awards Committee:
- November-September: Three to four conference calls to set up the awards for 2016
- September: One full day meeting in Calgary
- October: Attending the Alto Awards at the Travel Alberta Industry Conference (October 24, 2016)
Committee members will serve a term of two years and may re-submit their name for remaining on the committee.
