Medicine Hat JazzFest Finalist for the Alberta Business Awards of Distinction

Medicine Hat JazzFest is pleased to announce that it has been recently selected as a finalist for the Alberta Business Awards of Distinction in the Arts & Culture category. This great honour was announced by the Alberta Chambers of Commerce on December 19th, 2014. Along with being a finalist for the Arts & Culture Award of Distinction, Medicine Hat JazzFest is also eligible for the prestigious Premier's Award of Distinction.

"It is a great honour to be nominated for this provincially recognized award in our 19th year of bringing great jazz to SE Alberta," says JazzFest producer Lyle Rebbeck. The Medicine Hat JazzFest was the recipient of the first ever Medicine Hat Chamber of Commerce Tourism Award of Distinction in 2010. According to Jace Anderson, Executive Director of Tourism Medicine Hat, "More people each year make Medicine Hat a tourist destination during JazzFest as the reputation of this internationally recognized festival continues to grow."

The awards will be announced at a gala dinner on February 27, 2015, at the Renaissance Edmonton Airport Hotel in Edmonton. For more information, please go to the Alberta Business Awards of Distinction website at www.abbusinessawards.com.

About Medicine Hat JazzFest
Now in its nineteenth year, The Medicine Hat JazzFest has grown from a grassroots community-based event, to a widely recognized world-class festival that has taken its place alongside the other great jazz festivals in Canada. As a part of the national networking organization, Jazz Festivals Canada, we present many of the same performers that headline festivals in Canada's largest cities.

We feature an eclectic mix of venues, running the gamut from our signature concert at the Downtown Bus Terminal Parkade to the intimate and quaint atmosphere of our late night clubs. We feature both free and ticketed events as well as a number of educational opportunities including workshops, jams, and a concert for elementary school children.

Over 6,000 people attend approximately 60 events over 8 days featuring over 100 musicians from around the world.
