Action Plan Provides Economic Pathway for Rural Alberta

Yesterday, Premier Prentice and Minister Olson released Alberta’s Rural Economic Development Action Plan.

The Rural Economic Development Action Plan – An economic pathway for rural Alberta is a blueprint for future rural economic success. The plan lays out clear strategies and specific actions that build on the strength of Alberta’s rural economy by linking existing resources and organizations, increasing infrastructure capacity, and ultimately growing our provincial economy.

This announcement builds on last week’s release of the Alberta’s Small Business Strategy and takes immediate first steps to meet rural Alberta’s growing economic needs, including new funding for the Agriculture Opportunity Fund to support industry and business development. The plan aligns with Alberta’s Tourism Framework, outlining actions to increase tourism and culture-based business opportunities in rural communities.
