Fish Sauce II – Local Chefs Collaborate to Support Fire Relief Efforts for Fort McMurray

Some of Calgary’s culinary heavyweights are joining forces to present Fish Sauce II, a fundraising event in support of those affected by the recent fires in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Hosted by esteemed culinary writer Dan Clapson and popular personality Erin Strate of Shaw TV, the event will take place on Sunday, May 29, 2016. Hotel Arts has donated their space to be the venue for this exciting event.

Eight of Calgary’s top Chefs will collaborate for a culinary event featuring enticing canapes and a six course plated dinner. Local musician Amy Thiessen will also be performing live. The full ticket price will be donated to the Canadian Red Cross to aid in relief efforts related to the Fort McMurray fires.

After the success of the original Fish Sauce fundraiser supporting those affected by the 2013 floods in Southern Alberta, Fish Sauce is coming back to support our neighbours to the North.

“Coming together to do an event like this will have more impact and raise more awareness and money than acting individually,” comments Roy Oh of Anju. “All of us saw a need and knew this was an opportunity to help that we needed to take.”

The event is being supported by a number of org nizations in the food and beverage industry including City Fish, Hotel Arts, Fine Foods, GFS, Sysco, Community Meats and Bon Vida Wines with even more sponsors expected to come on board in the coming week.

“Having this collection of sponsors step up to support is incredible and truly reflects the spirit of the Calgary food industry,” said Jan Hansen from Hotel Arts Group. “We’re excited to drive this event that supports such an important cause in our community.”

Tickets for the event will be $150 per person. The full ticket price is tax deductible as it will be fully donated to the Canadian Red Cross to aid in relief efforts. Tickets are available online at http://fish-sauce-ii.eventbrite.ca.

About Fish Sauce

Established in 2013, Fish Sauce is an initiative driven by local Calgary Chefs that aim to execute culinary-focused events and programs that support those in need within the community. The first event in 2013 supported relief efforts after flooding in Southern Alberta, raising $18,698 for the Canadian Red Cross.
