Finalists Announced for 2013 Small Town Saturday Night Contest
Vote for your favorite hometown video - online voting begins on March 6!
Big Valley Jamboree, in partnership with Travel Alberta, is pleased to announce the finalists in the Small Town Saturday Night contest. These communities have earned the right to have been shortlisted for the incredible opportunity to host a “mini-Big Valley Jamboree” concert in their community on Saturday, April 27, 2013. Performers will include Chad Brownlee, Clayton Bellamy, Alee, Bobby Wills, and Tenille.
Travel Alberta has worked in concert with Big Valley Jamboree to extend invitations to small towns throughout Alberta to showcase their passion for their communities by creating their own unique two-minute video to earn the chance to host their very own country music festival.
The videos are ready. The towns have been identified. Albertans can now visit the Big Valley Jamboree website to view the finalists and vote for the winner.
"This contest is a great opportunity for Alberta’s communities to tell their story and showcase their character and charm,” said Richard Starke, Minister of Alberta Tourism, Parks and Recreation. “The videos created this year were phenomenal and we’re excited to find out which community Albertans choose for this year’s event."
“These communities have stepped up and showcased their small towns in a big way,” said Panhandle Production’s Larry Werner, Producer of Big Valley Jamboree. “Community spirit is alive and well in rural Alberta! All you have to do is see the enthusiasm and quality of the finalists. Now it is time to let Albertan’s decide who will host this year’s Small Town Saturday Night,” said Werner.
"Alberta’s vibrant rural communities are filled with authentic experiences that travellers are looking for,” said Travel Alberta CEO Bruce Okabe. “We encourage you to go online and vote for your favourite video, and help us to shine the spotlight on what makes each town unique!”
The finalists are:
• Cold Lake
• New Sarepta
Voting opens at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday March 6 and closes at 12:00 a.m. on Monday March 25.
The winning community will be recognized at the Growing Rural Tourism Conference in Camrose on Tuesday, April 9, 2013.
