Generate sport event hosting opportunities in your community

Connect with more than 350 representatives from sports and tourism sectors at the 2014 Sport Events Congress, April 1 – 3 in Edmonton.

The Canadian Sport Tourism Alliance (CSTA) together with the Government of Alberta is offering destination marketing organizations (DMOs) in Alberta with the opportunity to attend this Sport Events Congress 2014 on a discounted basis. Registration fees are discounted for Alberta communities who register for the Congress before February 3.

Sport tourism is the fastest growing segment in tourism in Canada. This is the first time the Congress has been held in Alberta. It is the premier annual gathering of representatives from national / provincial / multi-sport and major games organizations, event rights holders, convention and visitors bureaus, economic development agencies, parks and recreation departments, industry suppliers and corporate sponsors.

This is a prime opportunity to learn how sport tourism can benefit your community and features an outstanding variety of business-to-business, networking, and topical educational sessions and social events, including:

• Training sessions on all CSTA’s leading edge industry tools, including STEAM (Sport Tourism Economic Assessment Model)
• Sport event hosting best practice presentations
• Panel discussions involving industry experts on event hosting topics
• Sport marketing and event sponsorship sessions
• Off-site social events at the West Edmonton Mall and Saville Centre

Alberta communities who are members of the CSTA will have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with national and provincial sport organizations who own the rights to events that are open for bid. The Sport Events Exchange – a business-to-business marketplace that matches events rights holders with communities interested in hosting sport events (competitions, training camps, meetings, special events, etc.) in their communities – is the most popular activity at the Congress.

Register by February 3, 2014 to receive the early-bird discount!
