Alberta’s Tourism Unemployment Rate Well Below Canada’s
February 2016 data from the Statistics Canada Labour Force Study reported by Tourism HR Canada shows some encouraging tourism employment numbers:
- At 6.6%, tourism's unemployment rate was well below Canada's seasonally unadjusted unemployment rate of 7.3% in February 2016
- The only sector to have reported lower unemployment rates than it had one year ago is the transportation industry.
- In February 2016, tourism unemployment was lowest in Alberta (4.0%), as opposed to a total labour force unemployment of 8.5% in Alberta.
