Travel Alberta named International Destination Partner of the Year

HelmsBriscoe has named Travel Alberta as number one in providing service and support to their Associates and clients. HelmsBriscoe, the largest third-party meeting procurement and site-selection company in the world, honored their 2012 industry partners of the year on April 17 during the Opening General Session of their 2013 Annual Business Conference in Orlando, Florida.

HelmsBriscoe is now in its fourth year of a strategic partnership with the Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC) and through this partnership, Travel Alberta has been able to connect, network and promote Alberta as a meetings destination to HelmsBriscoe Associates.

In 2012, 165 programs were booked into Alberta by HelmsBriscoe Associates, including 23,000 room nights - totalling an economic impact to Alberta of almost $6 million.

“We are very honoured to receive this award. It has a lot to do with our strategic partnership through the CTC, but over and above that it is about customer service , being easy to work with, and knowledgeable about our destination.” says Brian Slot, Travel Alberta’s Director of Meetings, Convention and Incentive Travel (MC&IT). “Ultimately this award is not just about Travel Alberta, it recognizes all the DMOs and hotel partners that have booked programs with HelmsBriscoe. There are some top producers at HelmsBriscoe that we have helped book some big programs that are from Alberta, Toronto, Ottawa, Texas, Chicago, New York and the Washington, DC area, and through the work of the team it continues to grow every year.”

HelmsBriscoe has more than 1,200 Associates matching their clients meeting and convention needs to destinations in 55 countries worldwide. Travel Alberta participates in the HelmsBriscoe Annual meeting, regional events and in-person associate presentations and meetings, which continue to keep Alberta destinations top of mind for meetings.

Travel Alberta develops a broad range of MC&IT programs and activities that maximize the sales impact on Alberta meetings and incentive destinations. We accomplish this through in market promotions, industry education and business development trips with meeting professionals from around the world. Our objective is to provide room night referrals and conversion opportunities direct to industry through this multi-faceted strategy.
