2016 United States Tour Operators Association Conference Shows Increased Demand for Canada and Alberta Tours
Travel Alberta business development directors Bart Donnelly, Europe & Australia and Brian Slot, USA, attended the 2016 United States Tour Operators Association (USTOA) Annual Conference & Marketplace in early December. The conference provides unparalleled access to decision-makers from top U.S. based tour operator companies and other industry leaders.
“Conversation at this year’s marketplace proved that Alberta products and experiences continue to grow within tour operators’ product line,” said Donnelly. “Canada is hot right now and provided a platform to present new ideas, itineraries and seasons that operators were not open to discuss in the past.”
Alberta is also gaining ground as a destination through inclusion by some major tour operators that have not previously sold Alberta as a destination. A main objective for Donnelly and Slot at the conference was to focus on need periods and need areas for Alberta’s tourism regions, as well as introduce new experiences available throughout the province.
Travel Alberta along with other Canadian provincial marketing organizations (PMOs) hosted a Canada Breakfast at the event, allowing further opportunities to promote Alberta to an influential group of top level executives from major tour operators.
“The opportunity to continue building relationships with major tour operators and promoting Alberta’s tourism experiences is an important component of our strategy to grow Alberta’s visitor economy through U.S. and international visitation,” said Donnelly.
