New Travel Alberta Website Increases Connection to Travellers Worldwide
Travel Alberta has launched new releases of travelalberta.com and the Alberta Tourism Information Service (ATIS). Building off the success of the Alberta tourism brand (remember to breathe), these releases represent new opportunities for Alberta’s tourism industry to work collaboratively to increase our connection to travellers worldwide and to inspire visitation to Alberta.
“We built the new travelalberta.com and ATIS as shared marketing platforms for Alberta’s tourism industry to promote our authentic experiences and breathtaking landscapes to travellers in Alberta, across Canada, and around the world,” Phil Klassen, VP Global Consumer Marketing.
Launching in nine markets and six languages, the new travelalberta.com represents the culmination of work by partners throughout Alberta.
“Building a website that represents Alberta’s $8 billion per year tourism industry is a significant undertaking requiring a collaborative industry effort,” says Marney St John, Director Digital Platforms at Travel Alberta. “Alberta’s story is not just ours told through our voice. It’s a variety of stories told through the images and words of our tourism industry and travellers who have been here. To effectively showcase the breadth and beauty of experiences in Alberta, we sourced tens of thousands of images, videos, articles and tourism experience descriptions for travelalberta.com from more than 3,500 tourism operators, marketing partners, industry associations, government organizations and thousands of travellers.”
In addition to new destination discovery and trip planning features, the new travelalberta.com has improved and expanded exposure for Alberta’s tourism operators.
“Each tourism operator in Alberta participating in ATIS will have their own dedicated webpage on travelalberta.com to promote their travel experiences, offers and events,” says Jeannine Greschner, ATIS Manager. “Through ATIS, tourism operators can manage information about their business, view reports on lead referrals and traveller demographics, and monitor their reputation with real time reviews from TripAdvisor. Our goal was to make it easy for Alberta tourism operators to have a robust and easy to manage online presence to promote their experiences to travellers planning an Alberta vacation.”
For Alberta’s hoteliers, the new travelalberta.com and ATIS have been enhanced with real-time room rate and availability content through Travel Alberta’s partnership with the Alberta Hotel & Lodging Association’s (AHLA) Check in Canada initiative.
“Travel Alberta and the AHLA have been working together to drive revenue growth and profitability for Alberta’s hoteliers,” says Dave Kaiser, President & CEO of the AHLA. “By combining our efforts, we are providing travellers with an effective way to plan their Alberta vacation and book accommodations directly with hotels.”
Alberta tourism businesses not currently listed in ATIS are encouraged to sign up after April 4 to ensure they are represented on the new travelalberta.com.
“Creating your online profile is easy to do and only takes a few minutes. For those that need assistance, we have a dedicated team of support resources to assist you,” says Jeannine Greschner.
Alberta hoteliers currently participating in Check in Canada will automatically appear in accommodation searches on travelalberta.com with 24/7 rate and availability information.
