Debbie Jabbour to Chair the Northern Alberta Development Council
The Northern Alberta Development Council (NADC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Debbie Jabbour, MLA for Peace River, as the new Chair.
A long-time resident of northern Alberta, Ms. Jabbour brings first-hand knowledge of the social and economic fabric of the regions communities and cultures. She was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta on May 5, 2015 and currently serves as Deputy Speaker and Chair of Committees. Her broad understanding of the issues and opportunities facing rural and remote residents is complemented by her professional work as a Mental Health Specialist.
As NADC Chair, Ms. Jabbour will serve as a key liaison, fulfilling Council’s mandate to investigate, plan and promote practical measures to advance the social and economic development of the north, and provide government with advice and recommendations regarding development needs and priorities for the region.
Ms. Jabbour’s experience working and liaising with community stakeholders in various capacities, combined with her personal and professional achievements, will assist Council and government in realizing positive outcomes for Alberta’s northern residents, communities and industries.
Her role as Chair will be instrumental in advancing Council’s vision for a stronger Alberta through a stronger north.
