Edmonton’s Bernie Kollman named chair of Travel Alberta
Travel Alberta is pleased to welcome Ms. Bernie Kollman, an IBM executive based in Edmonton, as the new Chair of Travel Alberta’s Board of Directors. Effective immediately, Kollman will lead the award-winning tourism marketing agency of the Government of Alberta.
“I am excited and eager to support this dynamic marketing organization in their continued journey to connect the world to Alberta,” said Kollman. “The Travel Alberta board and team have established a high standard of performance and governance. Tourism is poised to help Alberta’s government meet their objectives of economic diversification.”
The University of Regina graduate is currently Vice-President for IBM’s Public Sector division in Alberta, representing one of IBM’s largest client groups in Canada. Throughout her 30-year career at IBM, she has consistently demonstrated both strategic leadership and innovation, bringing her global expertise to Alberta’s public sector, as well as a long list of charitable and business organizations.

An active community volunteer, Kollman currently sits on the boards for the United Way of the Alberta Capital Region and is co-chair of the Alberta Centre for Advanced Studies which facilitates research collaboration between the universities in Alberta and IBM. Previously, she served as the Chair of the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce (2011) and United Way of the Alberta Capital Region Campaign Chair (2007). Kollman has spent more than two years serving as a Travel Alberta board member.
Among her many past awards and recognitions, Kollman has been named one of the “Top 50 Most Influential Albertans” by Alberta Venture magazine and received a “Global TV Women of Vision” award.Members of Travel Alberta’s Board of Directors , appointed order in council by the Government of Alberta, were recruited from qualified applicants who collectively have the full range of competencies, experience or personal attributes required to provide effective governance of Travel Alberta.
