Grants available to host Alberta Culture Days events

The Government of Alberta is making funding available to organizations interested in hosting Alberta Culture Days 2014 events, September 26 - 28. Cultural organizations, nonprofit groups, libraries, venues and facilities, schools, community groups, and event planners are all encouraged to apply. Consideration will be given to those who partner with others in their community.

Alberta Culture Days is an annual three-day celebration that promotes the value of culture and encourages participation in local cultural experiences in communities across Alberta.

Up to $20,000 is available to interested communities who want to be designated a Feature Celebration Site; and up to $5,000 to those wanting to be designated a Host Celebration Site. For the first time, a special $500 grant is also available for up to 10 applicants wishing to host a one-day event.

“Culture matters to our communities and to our province as a whole. It matters in the lives of Albertans today and to the generations to come,” says Heather Klimchuk, Minister of Culture. “I’m pleased the Government of Alberta is once again able to provide seed money to help grow Alberta Culture Days and provide Albertans with unique access points to local culture.”

The deadline to apply is April 28. Click here for more information and to apply.

A total of 1455 events took place in 94 communities during Alberta Culture Days 2013, providing thousands of Albertans with access to events celebrating our unique culture, heritage, artistic diversity and provincial pride. Alberta Culture Days is helping to achieve the goals of the Government of Alberta’s cultural policy, The Spirit of Alberta, and is part of National Culture Days.
