Travel Weekly recognizes Travel Alberta with two Gold Magellan Awards

Travel Weekly has selected Travel Alberta’s newest promotional video “There Is” as a 2013 Gold Magellan Award winner in the destinations promotional video category. In addition, the province of Alberta was selected as a 2013 Gold Magellan Award winner in the adventure destination category.

The Magellan Awards honour a broad range of industry segments including hotels and resorts, travel destinations, cruise lines, online travel services, airlines and airports, travel agents and agencies, tour operators and car rental companies. With entries from across North America and around the world, the Magellan Award winners represent the best in the travel industry and salute the outstanding travel professionals behind it all. 

“Once again, the bar was raised by Magellan entrants,” said Arnie Weissmann, Editor in Chief of Travel Weekly. “The creativity that travel industry marketers and designers display to inspire travel and enhance the travel experience continues to impress our expert judges and readers. The winners are not just the most talented and creative people in the travel industry – they are among the most creative and talented of any industry.”

These awards follow in the footsteps of Travel Alberta’s 2012 Gold Magellan Award for the original (remember to breathe) video which has surpassed two million views on YouTube. 

Since becoming a Crown corporation on April 1, 2009, Travel Alberta has earned more than 30 awards related to excellence in tourism marketing, including platinum at the HSMAI Adrian Awards,  marketing campaign of the year from the Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC) and three Golden City Gate Awards at ITB Berlin.
