Tour of Alberta 2015: Stage 3 Finish Location Revealed

At a press conference today, Duane Vienneau, Executive Director of the Tour of Alberta presented by ATB Financial, announced a location for the Stage 3 Finish at Jasper National Park, details for two ancillary events, and AMPIA nominations for Tour of Alberta presented by ATB Financial content.

Miette Hot Springs, a major tourist attraction famed as the hottest known springs in the Canadian Rockies, was revealed as the site of the Stage 3 Finish on Friday, September 4. The trek to the top will be considered the first mountain finish of two during the 2015 route.

The detailed routes for all 2015 Stages will be announced at a later date.

Details of the ATB Financial Family Ride in support of CASA scheduled for the last day of the 2015 race were also announced. On Monday, September 7, Tour of Alberta fans are asked to hop on a bike, slip into a costume, and help raise awareness for an important cause: CASA Child, Adolescent and Family Mental Health. This fun public ride starting in Churchill Square will depart at the same spot the professionals will race at a mere few hours later. Prizes will be awarded for the best costume, the most creative bike, the top individual fundraiser and the top fundraiser team. Participants are can stick around Churchill Square after to get a front row seat to the Tour of Alberta finale as the overall race leaders are crowned. An ancillary ride for official partners of the Tour of Alberta presented by ATB Financial is also scheduled for Saturday, September 5 at Marmot Basin ski area. The Marmot Basin Hill Challenge is offered as a part of an exclusive Tour partnership package where sponsor-teams will have the opportunity to climb to the summit and finish under the same truss the pros will later that day. There will also be one media-team participating.

The Tour of Alberta presented by ATB Financial is proud to recognize two 2014 media partners for their AMPIA nominations for Tour content at the 2015 Alberta Film & Television Awards: Aquila Productions Inc. has been nominated for “Best Live Sport Event Production” for Strathcona County, and CityTV has been nominated for “Best Documentary Under Thirty Minutes” for Ride Another Day. The Alberta Film & Television Awards will be held on Saturday, May 23, and winners will be awarded with the prestigious Rosie Award.

Today, April 29, 2015, also marks National Canadian Film Day. To celebrate this, and as an early kick-off to Global Visions Film Festival next week, Metro Film Society is screening Marinoni: Fire in the Frame, a compelling documentary following 75-year old legendary bicycle builder, Guiseppe Marinoni, in his quest to capture the UCI Hour Record title in his age category.
