Gran Fondo Jasper

Multisportscanada, producers of triathlon, running and exciting mass adventure events, has announced the introduction of the Gran Fondo Jasper and Jasper Triathlon which will take place on June 13 and 14 this year.

Starting and finishing in the authentic mountain town of Jasper, the Gran Fondo event offers three distances to please all levels of cyclist. The 180 km ‘Gran Fondo’ route will take cyclists through the heart of the Rocky Mountains offering several epic climbs. The 100 km ‘Medio Fondo’ route provides all the climbs of the Gran Fondo with a relaxing return to finish! The 65 km ‘Piccolo Fondo’ route offers an awe-inspiring and scenic route showcasing the natural mountain environment.

This Gran Fondo event is Canada’s second event to be hosted completely within Canada’s National Park System! Sunday June 14 will highlight the ever-growing popularity of Triathlon. Based out of the Jasper Aquatic Centre, this event also offers distances for all ages and abilities:

a ‘sprint’ distance:  750 m swim, 26 km cycle and 5 km run

a ‘tri it’: 400 m swim, 13km bike and 2.5 km run

Kids of Steel with distances varying by age from 5-12 yrs

This event weekend will be perfect for the entire family. ”Many participants will come from around Alberta, across Canada and around the world.“ We are pleased to welcome the Gran Fondo Jasper and the Jasper Triathlon to the natural setting of Jasper National Park,” said Jim Eglinski, Member of Parliament for Yellowhead. “These special events support the local tourism economy while providing participants and spectators the opportunity to connect with the incredible nature of Jasper and forge lasting memories of these special places.”

“The Municipality of Jasper is proud to host the swimming portion of the triathlon at the Jasper Aquatic Centre, and excited to support and promote healthy, active lifestyles in our community." It is expected that participants will travel with their families and extend their stay to take in the many other activities being offered over the weekend.

Capacity for the inaugural Gran Fondo Jasper has been limited to 400 participants and 200 for the Triathlon. Demand for both events is expected to be very high. For those interested in participating, registration and event information, visit
