TIAC Releases Report on 2016 China Trade Mission Findings
Today, the Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC) is pleased to publish the Gateway to China 2: Trade Mission Insights report, covering our findings and results from our second trade mission to China. China is Canada's second largest overseas market, with visitor numbers growing about 22% in 2016. From October 10th - 16th, 2016, TIAC led a delegation of 12 tourism businesses from across Canada to Shanghai, Jinan, Hefei, and Nanjing. In each city, the delegation met with outbound tour operators and industry officials to discuss business opportunities, and to discuss barriers facing Chinese outbound travelers.
This report explores the new opportunities available in the vibrant Chinese market. It covers several themes including:
- The differences between customers in Tier 1 & Tier 2 cities
- The impact of Access issues on attracting Chinese travelers to Canada (air access, visas etc.)
- Understanding Chinese traveler expectations
About Trade Missions
This project would not have been possible without the assistance of the Global Affairs Canada "Global Opportunities for Associations" (GOA) grant. This was TIAC's second GOA funded China mission, and fourth GOA funded mission.
