Travel Alberta gets Orange County Stoked for Snow!

Snow in Orange County? Yes indeed at the end of January – courtesy of Travel Alberta and Alberta ski resort partners.

On Saturday January 29th, Travel Alberta helped get Los Angelinos Stoked for Snow!  A dazzling, snow covered bus spent the day cruising the streets from Newport Beach to Hollywood. Both hardcore powder-hounds and curious passers-by were invited to climb on board and chill out with representatives from Alberta’s ski resorts. Those that did were briefed on Alberta’s top notch ski destinations, bountiful “champagne powder” snow and scintillating après ski scene. Tons of exciting prizes, including 15 trips for two to ski in the Rockies were handed out to participants that rode the bus.

Travel Alberta used the Twitter hashtag #stokedforsnow, as well as Facebook ads targeted to residents of Southern California to invite people to ride the bus. In order to board the bus, riders were required to use their smart phones to check into Facebook Places or update their Facebook or Twitter status to “I’m getting on the #stokedforsnow bus for a chance to win a ski trip.”

“Our team had a very successful day interacting with skiers, snowboarders, and other folks across Los Angeles and Orange County,” said Wade Harper, Travel Alberta’s Executive Director of International Marketing. “The Stoked for Snow bus has been a fantastic attention getter, and we’ve been having great conversations about fabulous skiing and snowboarding vacation packages in Alberta with everyone we’ve met in this key market.” “Preliminary indications show that it was a great success and we will be looking forward to future results.”
