We are looking for a driven Marketing and Social Media Specialist to attract and interact with targeted virtual communities and networks of users.

What does a Marketing and Social Media Specialist do?

The goal is to gradually achieve superior customer engagement and intimacy, website traffic and revenue by strategically exploiting all aspects of the social media marketing, website development, and the local influencer roadmap.

Marketing and Social Media Specialists should have a solid understanding of how each social media channel works and how to optimize content so that it is engaging on those channels. You are responsible for joining relevant conversations on behalf of the destination and “soft selling” the attractions and businesses in the area by providing support to current and prospective customers.

Marketing and Social Media Specialists should also understand how to use all content mediums to connect with consumers. Reporting to the Executive Director, the
Marketing and Social Media Specialist will work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and support the execution of projects and campaigns.    

• Build and execute social media strategy through competitive research, platform determination, benchmarking, messaging and audience identification
• Generate, edit, publish and share daily content (original text, images, video or HTML) that builds meaningful connections and encourages community members to take action
• Set up and optimize company pages within each platform to increase the visibility of company’s social content
• Moderate all user-generated content in line with the marketing strategy
• Create editorial calendars and syndication schedules
• Continuously improve by capturing and analyzing the appropriate social data/metrics, insights and best practices, and then acting on the information
• Develop content for LDMO websites and other digital properties
• Work with stakeholders to create content from provided information (digitally, telephone, etc.) and build meaningful relationships  
• Collaborate with other departments (visitor services and executive) to manage reputation, identify key players and coordinate actions
• Work with the Visitor Services Coordinator in managing and monitoring the showcase/ information centre
• Be able to take calls from the Visitor Information Network when Visitor Services Manager is unable to do so.
• Be able to provide visitor information services and serve the destination showcase when the Visitor Services Manager is unable to do so
• Other duties as assigned.

• Proven working experience in social media marketing or as a digital media/ content specialist
• Excellent consulting, writing, editing (photo/video/text), presentation and communication skills
• Demonstrable social networking experience and social analytics tools knowledge
• Adequate knowledge of web design, web development, CRO and SEO
• Knowledge of online, traditional, and influencer marketing and good understanding of major marketing channels
• Positive attitude, detail and customer oriented with good multitasking and organizational ability
• Fluency in English
• French considered an asset
• Degree in Communications, Marketing, Business, New Media or Public Relations or three equivalent years of work experience considered.
