Our business development team works closely with our group tour planners to develop unique and interesting itineraries for special interest groups including culinary and wine, student/youth and performing arts tours worldwide. Position Summary:
As a Group Tour Sales Specialist on our business development team, you are responsible for maximizing group travel sales potential within your designated territory, by networking, identifying client prospects, and building strong relationships with new and existing clients. 
You will work closely with the group sales manager and group tour planners to support company goals and objectives. 

Core Responsibilities:
• Build relationships with existing clients and suppliers in the province of Alberta 
• Identify and develop new business leads 
• Work with group sales manager and planners to close sales and ensure sales goals are met through client retention and new business avenues
• Retain and expand group sales through face-to-face meetings, presentations and cold-calling 
• Collaborate with group tour planners to prepare client proposals, using a customized approach to meet clients' needs
• Act as an ambassador of the company brand, participating at travel trade shows as necessary and effectively representing our business to the industry and the public 
• Keep informed of competitor and travel industry trends and advise management of opportunities
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date client and sales records in database, submit and review sales reports as required
• Provide content and advice to marketing department, provide feedback and ensure marketing materials are utilized effectively
• Opportunity to fill role of tour manager as desired/necessary
• If based in Vancouver, quarterly visits to Alberta would be needed, if based in Alberta regular travel around the province would be required

 Skills Required: 
• Team-focused with ability to adapt and support change, solve problems creatively, and adjust approach as necessary 
• Results-driven with demonstrated ability to set and meet challenging targets
• Ability to work well under pressure and meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment 
• Effective presentation and facilitation skills with ability to engage clients and represent company in a professional manner
• Ability to build client confidence and ensure commitments to clients are met, demonstrating excellence in customer service
• Effective sales, closing and negotiation skills, with ability to compromise, seek common ground and reach a mutually beneficial solution or outcome 
• High level of integrity, sense of accountability, and professionalism
• Proficiency in MS office and ability to adapt quickly to changing technology

• Proven experience in professional sales 
• 3+ years experience in customer service
• College diploma, degree or related experience 
• Strong communication skills, both written and oral
• Passion for travel
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends is necessary
• Legally permitted to work in Canada
• A background check is required due to the nature of our business working with Minors
• Access to a reliable vehicle is an asset with a valid driver’s license
• Interest or experience working with youth groups and/or arts organizations is an asset
