Job Description

The Medicine Hat & District Chamber of Commerce is seeking interested candidates willing to serve as our Events Manager. 

The ideal candidate will be someone who is knowledgeable in general office practices, administration and marketing, while having an understanding of managing people and projects. They will be able to handle the planning and management of multiple event activities, including our trade shows, and be able to meet deadlines with ease. We are seeking an individual who is able to work proficiently in Microsoft Office programs, has a keen understanding of how database systems operate and be familiar with social media and marketing tools to promote our events.

The successful candidate will be someone who is an adaptable, organized planner who can solve problems, think strategically and work efficiently both independently and in a team environment to achieve project and budget objectives. It will also be beneficial for the candidate to have a keen understanding of the Chamber's community impact and be an individual that wishes to contribute to the collective work that the Chamber does on behalf of our business community.

The Events Manager is responsible for the overall production of trade shows, exhibitions and events for the Chamber.  The Events Manager coordinates, plans, organizes and implements all activities for Chamber trade shows and monitors the planning, coordination and implementation of all Chamber events.

The Events Manager reports directly to the Executive Director and is responsible for all trade show and event functions, providing the oversight and management of any related trade show and event work of the Sales Coordinator and Events Coordinator. The Events Manager is also responsible for project budgeting, hiring and coordination of all trade show staff required for each trade show event, while working with other Chamber staff to coordinate assistance for trade shows and events.

The ideal candidate will have five or more years’ experience in hospitality, marketing, communication, public relations or event and conference management positions.
