As Food and Beverage Manager at Fort Edmonton Park you will:
  • Recruit, train, schedule, coach, motivate, supervise, and evaluate Banquets and Outlet staff year round;
  • Create and deliver appropriate safety and customer service training for your team;
  • Act as Park representative when interacting with contact people and clients, ensuring client expectations are met and exceeded;
  • Support daily site operations, year round, through exceptional internal and external customer service, attention to detail, innovation and high standards of site stewardship for yourself and the team;
  • Work closely with and communicate effectively and respectfully with the Sales team, Culinary team, other hotel managers and Captains to coordinate high quality banquet/event planning and execution;
  • Complete administrative tasks related to the Service team and general park operation including scheduling staff, submitting time sheets, writing event reports, collecting statistical information, evaluating the Service team, supervising, writing incident reports, creating manuals, building event plans and schedules, and providing guidance for all support teams, etc. ;
  • Coordinate Banquets scheduling with other units to ensure appropriate coverage and support at all times. This may require involvement in other unit meetings for events or special days;
  • Check all function rooms to ensure they are prepared and equipment is in working order;
  • Ensure all staff are equipped with any necessary tools and equipment to perform their jobs efficiently;
  • Reinforce a high standard of cleanliness and Food Safe standards;
  • Order, procure, and maintain supplies; liaise with all goods and service suppliers;
  • Sit on the Logistics Committee and attend all meetings;
  • Provide assistance and direction to staff, volunteers, and visitors while acting as an on-site supervisor ;
  • Welcome guests, act as host for rental events, respond to visitor concerns, first aid emergencies, inquiries, etc. as needed ;
  • Coordinate and implement special projects as required;
  • Be prepared to work outdoors, on site, year round, in all weather conditions;
  • Adhere to all AGLC regulations governing the service of alcohol as well as all other Park, City, provincial, and federal regulations;
  • Assist with the development of cost control systems to reduce waste in food, supplies, and labour;
  • Maintain a balance between administrative duties and on site presence;
  • Support overall Park operation as required in recognition of uniqueness of our site.

  • At least 5 years’ experience supervising a high functioning team in a busy multi outlet customer service environment;
  • Extremely high customer service standards and experience in training and follow up;
  • Exceptional knowledge of hospitality and conference best practices;
  • Experience working on special events an asset;
  • Applicant must enjoy working with people in a high volume, fast paced work environment; must be confident and assertive; detail oriented; and artistic;
  • Highly developed and demonstrable verbal and written communication, as well as inter-personal skills;
  • Clean with good hygiene habits;
  • Knowledge of Western Canadian history an asset;• Understanding of museum best practices, or familiarity with artifact care an asset;
  • Applicants must be willing to sign a media consent form in accordance with City policy and participate in media events;
  • Applicants will be required to arrange their own transportation;
  • Bondable;
  • Valid Pro-Serve certificate;
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR/ AED training is required prior to commencing employment;
  • An original Police Information Check, including Vulnerable Sector Check issued within the past 6 months that is satisfactory to the employer will be required before starting in the position. The new hire will be required to obtain this check from Edmonton Police Service. Please note: this may take up to 3 weeks to process.

Hours of Work: Position is full time ongoing. Must be able to work a variety of shifts including evenings, weekends, holidays, to meet the needs of the business.
