Overview


The Senior Quality Assurance Analyst is responsible for developing, performing and maintaining Travel Alberta's digital end-to-end quality assurance process and documentation for all our systems, applications and analytics implementation. This includes, but is not limited to, test cases and script development and maintenance, automated testing, manual testing, functional, exploratory, integration and regression testing across multiple platforms, application frameworks, websites, web APIs and backend applications.

The Senior Quality Assurance Analyst reports to the Manager, Development in the Digital department of the Global Consumer Marketing division. The person in this role will own the quality assurance strategy and implementation for all digital platforms and products. The successful candidate will work with our in-house Development team, UX Strategist, Product Manager, and partner agencies as needed to ensure we continue to release high-value and high-quality products to our users. The person in this role is also responsible for the ongoing refinement of the quality assurance process, documentation, and automated testing plan to ensure that Travel Alberta is using best practice methods and methodologies.

Strategic accountabilities: 

  • Quality assurance testing: 70%
  • Development and continual improvement of quality assurance process: 15%
  • Development and continual improvement of quality assurance documentation: 15%

Required qualifications

  • BA or BS in one of the following: Computer Science, Marketing or related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a Quality Assurance role, preferably in a software development team with experience in or using the following:
    - Agile methodology and practices.
    - SBTM methods and mythologies
    - Development lifecycles and the software development process
    - Performing functional, integration, performance, stress and regression testing across multiple platforms, application frameworks, web APIs, websites and backend applications
    - Cross-browser functional testing
    - Creating automation strategies and test plans is an asset
    - Building, setting up, and maintaining test automation preferably with ruby and selenium. Experience using any other testing frameworks such as Behat, Cucumber, Watir, Jenkins or any other frameworks would also be considered.
    Manual testing of complex medium to large-scale systems
    Experience testing analytic implementations on websites and systems using Google Analytics, GTM and SQL is an asset. 
    Experience with breaking down test cases using strong logical reasoning skills to solve problems
    Experience with mind maps
    Experience extracting data from databases to validate against expected results within test scripts. 
    Experience as a SCRUM master is an asset.
