Summary / Posting Description:

Ski Banff-Lake Louise-Sunshine is a joint initiative of Canada's Big 3 Resorts: Mt. Norquay, the Lake Louise Ski Resort and Sunshine Village Ski & Snowboard Resort. We represent the three resorts collectively to destination markets including North America (outside of Alberta) and internationally. The PR & Media Specialist supports the company's organizational objectives by creating and implementing strategic PR and social media plans that drive sales and visitation goals for SBLLS's destination market. The PR & Media Specialist is responsible for the creation and implementation of SBLLS's short and long-term messaging including communications strategies, programs and systems that support the mission, goals and objectives. The PR & Media Specialist oversees all incoming and outgoing media communications on a day-to-day basis. They also manage, collect and distribute key and ongoing content / messages to staff, guests and partners through all media channels. The PR & Media Specialist works with visiting media, ensuring each person returns home with stories of great adventure to be shared with readers, viewers and friends.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Establish and manage media budget
- Develop targeted and integrated PR & Social Media plans
- Manage content calendar including collection and distribution
- Work with the sales and marketing team to integrate strategies
- Coordinate content collection with the resorts
- Coordinate content distribution across both in resort and destination markets
- Develop and track ROI
- Work closely with key community partners including top stakeholders, Banff Lake Louise Tourism and Travel Alberta
- Undertake competitive analysis to gain knowledge of competitive initiatives within the industry
- Develop innovative and effective communication programs by target market, with appropriate goals and strategies, to increase resort recognition and promotion.
- Oversee the management and logistical coordination of media and tour operator FAM visits in conjunction with partners
- Host and manage media, filmmakers, athletes and opinion leaders, delivering key, appropriate messages - Handle SBLLS crisis communications and issues management
- Manage Public Affairs projects as needed
- Serve as community representative when required
- Provide guidance for internal employee communications
- Plan for and attend media events and industry related functions
- Other ad hoc duties as required

- Intermediate skier and/or snowboarder
- Familiarity, enthusiasm and passion for Banff-Lake Louise and our three ski resorts
- Valid passport for regional and international travel
- Legally able to work in Canada (Canadian citizen, permanent resident or valid work permit)


- A minimum of three years related marketing, PR and social media experience
- Destination marketing experience in Eastern Canadian and United States markets
- Strong public speaking and writing skills
- Intermediate computer skills including Social Media platforms, word and excel
- Familiarity with design programs such as Photoshop, InDesign or Adobe Illustrator
