Art Gallery of St Albert, with Arts and Heritage St Albert, has an exciting opportunity for a highly energetic, dedicated, creative and organized individual. The Community Programs Coordinator supports artistic achievement and visual culture in St. Albert and surrounding area by facilitating interactions between art and people, providing engaging educational opportunities for the public. 

Duties include: 

  • Managing and developing community program schedule for Gallery, offsite clay, multimedia and painting studios 
  • Scheduling, coordinating and supervising contract instructors to ensure smooth delivery of community art programs, lectures, workshops 
  • Instructing community programs and workshops, and school gallery tour programs to all ages 
  • Preparing locations for programming, including ordering materials and supplies 
  • Administrative tasks related to the delivery, coordination and tracking of programs, including the marketing and promotion of associated programming 
  • Assisting with Gallery exhibitions and accompanying interpretation materials   

Ideal Candidates possess:   

  • A Fine Arts Diploma/ Degree, Art Education Degree or equivalent 
  • Three years experience teaching children and adults in group settings 
  • Demonstrated administrative proficiency 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Experience managing budgets 
  • Supervisory experience 
  • Studio expertise with various artistic media (paint, clay, mixed media, 3D media) 
  • Knowledge of: art history, contemporary art, child development and curricula 
  • Drivers licence an asset 
  • Ability to speak French an asset 
  • First Aid Certificate will be required prior to commencement of duties   

Work Schedule and Salary: 

  • This full-time permanent position offers a salary of $50,012 pa, commensurate with experience 
  • 35 hour week: Tuesday – Saturday 
  • Weekend and evening hours are required to support programs and special events
