Lac La Biche Festival of Speed campaign along with Alberta Beach Bum Campaign wins marketing awards

The Community Futures office in Lac La Biche won 2 major marketing awards at the annual Alberta Economic Developers Association conference held in Kananaskis April 7th.

Jane Palmer, general manager of Community Futures office in Lac La Biche was present to accept the awards and was elated about the recognition received from her peers. “Our staff work very hard at promoting our region and to receive these two awards is a testament to their dedication and hard work in establishing tourism partnerships.”

The first award was the Award of Excellence for a Special Event campaign and was based on the 2010 marketing of the Winter Festival of Speed. The campaign featured full colour ads in northeastern alberta weekly newspapers and extensive radio spots in the same markets supplemented by additional radio in the Edmonton market. Marketing partners included Cenovus, Canalta Hotels, Festival of Speed and Travel Alberta.

The second award was for excellence in Print and Electronic Advertising for the “Alberta Beach Bum” 2010 campaign. Frank Ponto, Marketing and Communications Coordinator with Community Futures says that this Award was particularly gratifying because it’s shared with the Town and MD of Bonnyville. Through television commercials, print ads, radio commercials, billboards, bus advertising and a extensive Trade Show presence, the three regions have partnered up and sold tourism throughout the Province and beyond.
