Jasper’s search for its very own ‘Star’ of the small screen is on!

The race is on to find the “Star Correspondent” of the 2013 Jasper Dark Sky Festival! Auditions have now started - the contest is officially open for all aspiring anchors to submit their best ‘take’, for the chance to be voted Jasper’s star of the small screen.

Due to the high volume of applicants for last year’s Star Correspondent gig, Jasper’s Dark Sky judges have decided to reopen the auditions for the second year running, offering the opportunity for bright, new talent to be recruited as the Festival’s on-the-ground roving reporter.

Jasper is officially accredited by The Royal Astronomical Society as being a Dark Sky Preserve, the perfect spot to take in the nighttime show of millions of stars – at times, even lucky enough to be visited by the spectacular Northern Lights! With world-renowned astronomy viewing status, Jasper honors its stargazing appeal by hosting the popular Dark Sky Festival annually.

Dark Sky Festival 2013 is October 25-27, 2013. This year, one successful all-star contestant will have the opportunity to showcase the dark sky delights to a captivated online audience - following all the astronomy action, getting exclusive scoops at all the ‘star events’ and interviewing some of the biggest names in the world of stargazing, including Daily Planet’s Jay Ingram and the Festival’s Resident Sky Guy, Peter McMahon.

The chosen face of the 2013 Dark Sky Fest will be treated to a little star treatment themselves, with an all-expenses paid trip to Jasper, to discover the stargazing wilderness first-hand and covering all the excitement for ‘Jasper Dark Sky TV’!

Jasper is urging anyone who feels that they have superstar appeal to upload a two minute audition video to the first stage of auditions, by visiting Jasper Canadian Rockies on Facebook. Whether you are a frequent visitor or it would be your first Jasper experience, Jasper is keen to see your skills in front of the camera!

So, what are you waiting for?! Submit your entry by:

•        Uploading your audition video, telling the World exactly why you have what it takes to be the 2013 Star Correspondent of the Jasper Dark Sky Festival.

•        Sharing your entry with all of your friends, family, fans and supporters and getting them to like your video.  Jasper will be looking for who gets the most votes!

•        Our celebrity judging panel will select the winner from the top five entries.

The Star Correspondent auditions will remain open until September 21, and voting goes until September 30 – so get those cameras rolling!  The 2013 Star Correspondent will be announced October 7. The contest is open to all those over 18 years of age.
