Commercial Air Service Set to Resume June 10 at YMM

The Fort McMurray International Airport (YMM) is pleased to welcome back commercial air service on June 10, 2016. Please be advised that due to airspace restrictions at Fort McMurray International Airport, airlines will operate a reduced schedule until further notice.

Passengers travelling through YMM are advised that services will be limited and to note the following:

Security Delays

Please expect security delays when departing YMM. It is advised that passengers arrive at least ninety (90) minutes prior to their scheduled departure time.

Boil Water Advisory

Due to the wildfires, Alberta Health Services issued a boil water advisory for the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo as a precautionary measure. This includes YMM. For hand washing, wash with soap and water and use the provided alcohol-based hand sanitizer containing more than 60 per cent alcohol after drying your hands. Do not drink tap water until the advisory has been lifted.

There will be limited food and beverage outlets operating at YMM upon reopening. The following will be open with limited hours and menu options:

  • Vending machines are also available and sell an assortment of drinks and snacks

Please visit for operating hours.

All car rental outlets will be operating at YMM upon reopening.

Thank You & Welcome Home

As YMM proudly reopens to our region, passengers and community members are asked to participate in the airport’s Welcome Home / Thank You art installation. Jointly designed by Edmonton International Airport (EIA) and Fort McMurray International Airport (YMM) these boards will provide residents of Fort McMurray the opportunity to thank the communities that supported them during the evacuation, as well as inscribe a message of hope for fellow community members returning home. Boards are located at both EIA and YMM and once filled, will be exchanged and proudly displayed throughout the great cities of Edmonton & Fort McMurray.

As services continue to re-open updated information will be posted at
