New board members to help Travel Alberta grow tourism

Three Albertans have been appointed to the Board of Directors at Travel Alberta to help grow tourism in our province. The new members are Stewart Wilson of Grande Prairie, Francisco Gomez of Canmore, and Don Oszli of Red Deer.

“I am very pleased to have these three new members serve on the Travel Alberta Board. They bring a wealth of expertise in business and industry, as well as government relations,” said Dr. Richard Starke, Minister of Tourism, Parks and Recreation. “I’m confident they will provide sound governance and make a valuable contribution to growing tourism and supporting Alberta’s new Tourism Framework.”

Through the search process, individuals were interviewed by the selection committee comprised of Quincy Smith, Chair of the Travel Alberta Board of Directors, as well as Rick LeLacheur, Vice-Chair, and Jan Fisher, Board member. Rounding out the selection committee were MLA Ron Casey (Banff-Cochrane) and MLA Everett McDonald (Grande Prairie-Smoky).

"Travel Alberta's Board of Directors is committed to ensuring the organization becomes the pre-eminent tourism marketing organization in Canada. We are pleased at the progress it has made and the success it has had since becoming a Crown Corporation in April 2009,” said Board Chair, Quincy Smith. “We welcome this group of talented professionals in the next phase of the Corporation’s journey.”
