Opportunity to Volunteer at Rendez-vous Canada in Calgary

Are you looking for a rewarding and exciting way to get more involved in the tourism community? Canada's largest tourism marketplace is coming to Calgary and up to 150 super hosts are needed to welcome the world to our great city. Tourism Calgary in partnership with Travel Alberta will be hosting Rendez-vous Canada (RVC) May 9-12, 2017. 

What is Rendez-vous Canada (RVC)?

RVC is Canada's premier international tourism marketplace. This event is held annually across Canada, and connects international travel trade buyers with Canadian sellers of tourism products. The event creates excellent exposure for our destination which leads to increased international awareness, visitation, and economic impact.

3. A do-not-miss invite-only event! The annual marketplace is a top travel trade platform for Canadian tourism businesses to meet prospective buyers, build relationships, launch new products and services and share market insights.

What opportunities are available?

Tourism Calgary is looking for hosts May 7th through May 13th. Shifts may range from 3 to 6 hours, and be at various venues as described below. The following are the volunteer opportunities available:

  • Airport welcoming: renowned warm western welcome, answering inquiries, wayfinding, anticipating and determining needs of delegates, and being the perfect Calgary ambassador (located at YYC Calgary International Airport).
  • Host delegates on shuttle busses: welcoming and greeting delegates, answering inquiries, escorting delegates to and from various venues (locations include YYC Calgary International Airport, RVC Hotels, BMO Centre, and Studio Bell).
  • RVC hotel information area: learn about the RVC host hotels as you welcome delegates (RVC hotels include the Westin Calgary Hotel, Calgary Marriott Downtown Hotel, Hyatt Regency Calgary, International Hotel Calgary, the Fairmont Palliser, Delta Hotels by Marriott Calgary Downtown, and Hotel Arts).
  • BMO Centre information area: welcoming, answering inquiries, wayfinding, etc. while learning how major events of this magnitude unfold (located at Stampede Park).
  • RVC function hosts: participate in helping to deliver a truly memorable Calgary experience at important RVC events (locations include Hyatt Regency and Studio Bell).
  • Volunteer lead: lead opportunities available for each role outlined above by location. Show by example pride and passion for Calgary with volunteer teams, delegates and visitors. Oversee planned tasks and schedules at assigned location.
