Calgary promotional agencies unite to broaden perceptions of Calgary

Collaboration is the name of the game and four of Calgary’s promotional agencies have launched ‘Right Here’, the new Calgary promotional video.

The video shows a Calgary that may surprise people with its diversity; that will make Calgarians proud of their city; and will broaden perceptions of a city whose youth, growth and opportunity are attractive to potential guests regardless of whether they are looking for a place to live or visit.

Calgary Economic Development, Tourism Calgary, the Calgary TELUS Convention Centre and the Calgary Hotel Association are excited to reveal the new video that will be used to attract people to the city to visit, meet, work and study. The four agencies continue to build ties and coordinate marketing efforts to present a unified Calgary story.

“As Calgarians, we know our city is young, creative, innovative, cultural and urban and it’s important the rest of the world sees this too,” said Mayor Naheed Nenshi. “This new promotional video showcases our city’s unique energy as well as the incredible local talent who brought this story to life.”

‘Right Here’ included 280 Calgarians, utilized 21 Alberta-based crew and was written by local award-winning writer and composer, Mike Shields. In addition to the video, the agencies involved now have more than three terabytes of b-roll and photos to use in future marketing efforts.

“I am especially proud of the collaborative efforts made by Calgary’s promotional agencies in an effort to broaden people’s perceptions of Calgary as we tell one collective story to the world,” added Mayor Nenshi.

“Calgarians can be proud of the fact that they are the reason we can fly this Be Part of the Energy banner- as they are the people who make up this dynamic and spirited community,” said Bruce Graham, President & CEO, Calgary Economic Development. “Together we welcome people to be part of the energy.”

“The destination video unites the city’s promotional agencies as we tell a unified Calgary story that will make an emotional connection with potential visitors,” said Randy Williams, President & CEO, Tourism Calgary. “A story that is surprising; that will broaden perceptions of our city; and most importantly will create an urgency to visit Calgary again and often.”
