161 Alberta Properties Receive Annual Housekeeping Award

The Alberta Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) is pleased to announce this year’s Housekeeping Award recipients. With the support of Travel Alberta and Alberta Culture & Tourism, the AHLA has recognized properties that strive for housekeeping excellence, delivering the highest quality of accommodation to visitors to our province.

“The award is a win for guests, hotels, and the industry as whole. From year to year, the standards continue to improve,” says Dave Kaiser, AHLA President & CEO, “Congratulations and keep up the great work!”

This year, 241 properties were nominated for the Housekeeping Award. Using a combination of unannounced inspections, social media, and a detailed breakdown of TrustScores, the AHLA has identified 161 properties that have met the highest standards of cleanliness and state of repair to receive this highly sought-after accolade. Hotels that have received the Housekeeping Award are clearly indicated on, Alberta’s official online accommodation directory, and in Alberta’s Official 2015 Accommodation Guide.

The Housekeeping Award is unique to Alberta’s lodging industry and is the only award of its kind in Canada. Highly coveted award by hotels and their heart of house staff, the award raises the standard of housekeeping practice in properties of all sizes in communities around Alberta.  The staff of these hotels will receive their award Friday, April 17, 2015 at the AHLA’s 95th Annual Convention.

“The Housekeeping Award is a constant reminder that hard work pays off. This is one of the many reasons why we continuously feel inspired and encouraged to take pride in our work,” says Angel Santos, Banff Aspen Lodge Housekeeping Manager, “We want to deliver the best service to our guests and, given the priceless recognition of the Housekeeping Award, we want to make it to the top year after year.”

The Housekeeping Awards were developed in 1983 by the Alberta Hotel Association, Motel Association of Alberta and Alberta Economic Development to encourage, recognize, and foster excellence in housekeeping, maintenance and state of repair in hotels and motels. Since 1983, over 3,000 Housekeeping Awards have been presented.

About the AHLA:
The AHLA is a non-profit organization founded in 1919 which represents a broad cross section of Alberta's accommodation and tourism industry. Our purpose is to support our members and strengthen Alberta’s tourism and hospitality industry. The AHLA represents over 95% of guest rooms in Alberta. Our members are owners and operators of more than 885 hotels, motels, inns, resorts, and lodges in 186 communities.

About TrustScores:
The TrustScore is the standard for reputation, summarizing verified reviews and comments from various sources using TrustYou’s special algorithm to score your hotel. The most recent reviews are given more weight than older reviews to calculate this score. The past 24 months of review data are used when calculating the Overall Score, so even though it may be slow to move, it gives a great picture of your hotel’s sustaining performance.
