Alberta hosting Hyundai Global Conference next week

More than 300 delegates from around the world, including more than 100 from Korea, are gathering at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise next week for the Hyundai Motor Company’s bi-annual Global Distributor Conference.

Besides attending meetings June 14-17, delegates will experience horse wagon rides, hiking, golf and tours of Banff, Moraine Lake and the Columbia Icefield in Jasper National Park.

“For a global company like Hyundai to select Lake Louise for one of their most important meetings demonstrates that Alberta is an internationally competitive destination for corporate meetings,” said Bruce Okabe, Chief Executive Officer, Travel Alberta. “This is another big win for Alberta and our partners Banff Lake Louise Tourism, Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise and Brewster Travel Canada,” he said.

The Hyundai meeting is estimated to represent 864 booked room nights with a direct economic impact in Alberta of more than $220,000. In 2010-11, Travel Alberta referred more than 140 meetings and events leads to Alberta convention bureaus in Alberta representing a total potential of approximately 117,000 room nights that, if booked, would have a direct economic value of $30 million to the province.
