Seeking judges for the 2013 Alto Awards

The Alberta Tourism (Alto) Awards Committee is seeking judges to review and score entries for the 2013 Alto Awards in the categories of Marketing Excellence, Marketing Partnership, Service Excellence, Sustainable Tourism and Tourism Media.

The Alto Awards recognize individuals and organizations committed to enriching Alberta’s tourism industry and who by their actions inspire others and demonstrate what can be achieved by working together. The awards will be presented in nine categories, and to the 2013 Alto Ambassador, at the Alto Awards Banquet in Banff on October 28, 2013. The Alto Awards are presented in conjunction with the Travel Alberta Industry Conference, October 27-29, 2013.

The judging process: All entries received by the application deadline of September 6 will be reviewed by the Alto Committee for eligibility purposes. All eligible entries are then sent to the judges to individually score the submissions and send their results to an independent auditor. The auditor tabulates the scores for each entry and informs the Alto Awards Manager of the results.

Timeline & Commitment: Judges must be available to score the submissions between September 11 and September 23. The amount of time required depends on the number of submissions in the category, however most judges devote 8 – 10 hours scoring the submissions. Judges must have access to the internet during this time.

If you are interested in becoming an Alto Awards Judge, and have expertise in the above categories, please send your name and brief resume to Niesa Silzer, Alto Awards Manager at by August 7.
